LED Light Therapy
The skin can absorb infrared radiation and use it as an energy source to stimulate cell renewal. Infrared LED light therapy, first researched by NASA for use in the US space program, reverses and controls the visible signs of skin aging, making you look years younger without invasive surgical procedures.
Skin tightening, smoothing of wrinkles and rough spots, blemish disappearance, redness reduction, and pores reduction can be reached with this natural light treatment.
What is LED Light Therapy?
LED (Light Emitting Diode) light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that goes under the layers of the skin to improve it. Today, dermatologists and cosmetologists often use LED light therapy to treat various skin problems. Skin professionals often use this LED light therapy in combination with other treatments such as creams, ointments, and facials for the best results.
What can LED light therapy treat?
LED light therapy can help treat a wide range of skin problems and conditions, like:
The benefits of LED therapy
- Reducing/relieving muscle and joint pain, stiffness, spasms, and arthritis
- Stimulating collagen production
- Increasing blood flow
- Accelerating tissue repair
- Killing acne bacteria
- Improving skin texture, tone, and clarity
- Reducing inflammation and swelling
- Stimulating the release of ATP
How does LED light therapy work?
LED light therapy has a long tradition of use on the skin. US Navy SEALs first began to heal wounds faster and regenerate damaged muscle tissue in the 1990s.
There are different frequencies or wavelengths used in LED light therapy. These include red and blue light frequencies that do not contain UV and are easily absorbed by the skin.
Red light:
Red or infrared light is used to treat the epidermis, the outer layer of skin. When light hits the skin, the epidermis absorbs it and stimulates collagen proteins.
In theory, more collagen can make your skin look smoother and plumper, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Red LED lights are thought to reduce inflammation while improving blood flow, so you can get a healthier glow.
Blue light:
Blue LED light therapy, on the other hand, targets the sebaceous glands, also called sebaceous glands. They are located under the hair follicle.
Sebaceous glands are necessary to keep your skin and hair moisturized so they don’t dry out, and these glands can become overactive, which will lead to oily skin and acne.
The theory is that blue LED light therapy can target these sebaceous glands to reduce their activity. In return, you may experience fewer acne breakouts. Blue light can also kill acne-causing bacteria underneath the skin, making it useful in treating severe acne, including cysts and nodules.
One 2018 animal study discovered that blue LED light improved the healing of third-degree skin burns.
What to do before LED light therapy?
Before the office or home treatment, you should have a clean, makeup-free face. Spas and dermatologists may offer additional treatments before LED light therapy, including facials. Wear goggles to protect your eyes from bright light.
What happens during LED light therapy?
After putting on your glasses, you will lie on your back while your doctor applies the LED light therapy device to your face. Please lie still during treatment as the device is working. Treatment session is normally 20 minutes.
LED light therapy is a painless treatment. You will feel some heat during the treatment, but you will not feel any discomfort.
What to expect after LED light therapy?
Because LED therapy is non-invasive, no recovery time is required. You can continue with your everyday activities after the treatment. LED light therapy in the office requires up to 10 or more sessions, spaced approximately one week apart. Minor results will be seen after the first session. After completing all treatments, the results will be more dramatic and noticeable.
Get healthy, youthful skin. The LED Photo Rejuvenation treatment stimulates the production of collagen and elastin to create firmer skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. Immediate, medium-term, and long-term results are achieved using LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) that stimulate the skin’s natural collagen and elastin production. It’s like activating the skin’s hidden repair system. Looking young is not related to age, choosing the best skin care products and services is the ultimate solution that we, at Venus Skin Clinic will guarantee!
LED Light Therapy FAQ
LED light therapy is a skin care treatment using different wavelengths of light. Usually near-infrared, red, yellow, green, blue, or a combination thereof, depending on skin care concerns. For more…
Medical studies have shown that LED light therapy is a non-invasive treatment and has no side effects when used correctly. It has been used effectively for over 15 years in both cosmetic and medical applications.
Unlike other types of light therapy, LEDs produce pure wavelength light and do not contain ultraviolet light. This means that it is safe for regular use and will not cause sunburn or tanning of the skin.
Make sure you are well-hydrated during your treatment. If possible, please come with no makeup and sunscreen. Tell your doctor if there are any others from them in the treatment area so they can be removed before starting treatment. To see the best results, exfoliate the night before your treatment.
LED phototherapy is gradual and builds on the success of previous treatments. This means that you can expect relatively poor results from the first treatment, but the improvement should increase significantly with each subsequent treatment. The improvement in your skin should continue after the last treatment.
